Things That May Be Causing Your Back Pain Symptoms

Back pain can be mild or excruciating depending on its source. If you’re experiencing symptoms in your upper or lower back, there are a number of things that might be causing them. If you’ve done an extreme amount of lifting and are used to a relatively sedentary lifestyle, that could be what’s causing your pain.

Pulled and Strained Muscles Can Be a Factor

If you’ve worked out differently or too aggressively, you may have pulled something. You may also be experiencing inflammation due to accident or illness. These things all play a role on how your back feels.

Symptoms You Might Experience with Lower Back Pain

If you have lower back pain, you may experience some but not all symptoms. You may experience all the symptoms listed here. Each person is different which is why you should identify what you’re feeling and how intense the pain is.

Some symptoms of lower back pain include:

  • Difficulty moving. You may have trouble walking or standing. Your back hurts incredibly bad when you do. You may need to stop often to walk even a short distance. Some people rely on a cane or walker to get around when they’re experiencing back pain.
  • Persistent pains that moves through the groin, buttock or upper thigh. Surprisingly, it does not travel below the knee. You’ll feel it often enough to be bothered by it. It can cause you to avoid activities that make your back flare.
  • Achy and dull pain. You feel it but it isn’t sharp. You can’t stop thinking about it because it never goes away. Icing and applying heat to these areas help but do not make the pain go away entirely.
  • Muscles spasms. They may be faint or severe. It’s very debilitating. The back spasms may be so bad that they catch you off guard.
  • Tenderness when touched. The area is sore when it is pressed on. Having something touch your back is excruciatingly uncomfortable. You do anything you can to avoid feeling that sensation because it really hurts and causes you discomfort.

As you can see from the list above, there are a number of things that could be causing your back pain symptoms.
